Bernadette Carelse

The experience of the human energy field, of Chi and Prana, has been an active interest since 1992. At this time, I began learning Tai Chi and reestablished my personal Yoga practice. In 1996, at the Zen School of Shiatsu, I began a journey of learning this art of gentle healing - Zen Shiatsu. Since 1999, I have worked as a qualified practitioner and one of the school's tutors.

As a holistic therapist, I am qualified in and practice Holistic Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Reiki, Chi Nei Tsang - a Taoist Chi Massage that detoxifies and rejuvenates the internal organs - and Cosmic Healing (Chi Gong Colour Therapy.)

My Yoga practice has developed through an integration of Taoist and Buddhist philosophies. With the British Wheel of Yoga, I qualified as a Yoga Teacher in 2001 and as a Diploma Course Tutor in 2006. I run Yoga classes in Integral Yoga, a style of Yoga that encourages self-awareness and improved breathing, posture, strength and flexibility. In 2007, I began training as a Yoga Therapist and plan to specialise in enhancing positive approaches in living.

In terms of challenging my professional development as a teacher, in 2002, I moved into mainstream education as a secondary school science teacher, specialising in Physics. As a result, I began interested in special educational needs and in 2006, became an Educational Psychologist in an inner London borough. One of my projects is to bring Yoga practices into mainstream education to enhance health and well-being.

All in all, the therapy that I offer aims to enhance healing - feeling happier, relaxed and more in tune with oneself. Individual needs are addressed. Time is taken to listen and ask questions about what you need from a session and how this links to your life as a whole. I believe in getting results through involving you in the session - in a way that is self-empowering.
